On this side of the world a lift is what you may call an elevator. As far as 
matresses and castors are concerned, the reason I was given during my 
training regarding the ability to defib on hospital beds and Ambulance 
Stretchers was that they had rubber based matresses and wheels and so you 
shouldn't get a jolt.

I knew a guy who shocked a pt on the metal deck of a ferry and got a 
sizeable whack himself. Anyone who makes a habit of shocking on metal 
surfaces has my blessing as long as they don't crew with me. This is why I 
queried elevators - considering they are constructed of metal afterall.

I hope that clarifies it and proves I don't need to be sectioned.
