An I teaching incorrectly?

I was interested to see a mention of jet ventilation using an ambu
bag. I have allways taught that at least a 50psi pressure oxygen
source is required to oxygenate (not ventilate) through a needle cric.
I have no experience of using a needle (always do a surgical!). Does
ventilation with an ambu bag through a needle actually make the
chest move?

Anyone have actual (rather than theoretical) experience?

Tim.

> Just curious if your home made crico set-up is anything like
mine? I use a 3cc syringe, remove the plunger and needle and
attach the adapter from a size 7.0 ETT. This fits PERFECTLY into
the syringe barrel and can then be ventilated with ambu or
mechanical (although may get high inspiratory
pressure alarms) or can hook up to a jet ventilator. Works great in
a pinch and buys you some time (albeit, limited). > Andrew J.
